The Bay State Games Internship Program offers candidates the opportunity to gain valuable experience in all phases of sport management. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about event management, financial management, operations, sponsorship fulfillment, and media relations & social media. Unlike many other internships, the Bay State Games Internship Program allows candidates to take ownership of specific projects and manage events.
For many of the Summer Games tournaments, interns will be the primary point of contact for coaches, officials, and participants. Bay State Games internships require long hours and weekend work through June and July when necessary in order to accomplish the goals of the organization.
While this internship can be demanding at times, it provides realistic insight into the sports industry while also offering valuable field experience, and networking opportunities that can assist interns with their career development.

The internship lasts 10 – 12 weeks, from mid-May until the end of July. For many of the Summer Games tournaments, interns will be the primary point of contact for coaches, officials, and participants. Bay State Games internships require long hours and weekend work through June and July when necessary in order to accomplish the goals of the organization.
This internship will provide realistic insight into the sports industry while also offering valuable field experience, and networking opportunities that can assist interns with their career development.
All interns may have other duties assigned to them that are related to the Bay State Summer Games.
Operations & Event Management Internship
There are seven to eight full-time operations internship positions available each summer.
*All Bay State Games interns will be involved with operational responsibilities. In addition, interns will be assigned “focus areas.” Interns can be assigned multiple focus areas. Please indicate in your cover letter if you have interest in any particular focus areas. Focus areas will include but are not limited to:
Finance
Social Media
PR/Communications
Equipment/Uniforms/Merchandise
Medical
Sponsorship/Partnerships
Bay State Games is interested in candidates who meet the following qualifications:
The Bay State Games begins accepting applications on a rolling basis at the beginning of November. As applications are received interviews are scheduled from December until February as positions remain available. Interns are usually offered the position during this time period, with the last offers being extended in early March. For the best chance of consideration interns should submit their cover letter and resume as early as possible.
